ANNOUNCEMENT: Oxfam Pilipinas' First Executive Director
Following its establishment as an Oxfam International affiliate, Oxfam Pilipinas' Board of Trustees is now pleased to announce the appointment of Erika Geronimo as our first Executive Director. Erika will continue the process of transitioning Oxfam’s presence in the Philippines from a country program office into an independent national affiliate, a process that was so admirably led by Lot Felizco, former Country Director and interim Executive Director of Oxfam Pilipinas.
“Becoming the 22nd affiliate of Oxfam International – and only the third in Asia – is a testament to the Philippines’ role in the global movement for justice and equity. It is a huge challenge to move from a country office to an affiliate of Oxfam International; but it is an exciting journey, and a testament to the impact of our work and our partnerships”, said Peter Perfecto, Chair of the Board of Trustees.
Erika is not new to Oxfam, having served as Program and Partnerships Manager of the Sexual Health and Empowerment Project. She has also held senior roles in the Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID) and in various initiatives supported by the Australian Government, including Investing in Women and the Coalitions for Change.
Under Erika's leadership, we look forward to further strengthening our development, humanitarian and advocacy partnerships in the Philippines, and contributing to the global impact of Oxfam International as an independent affiliate from the global South.
The Board is deeply grateful to Lot for all the years she devoted to ensuring Oxfam's impact in the Philippines, and for ensuring a smooth and phased handover to Erika over the next two months.
